The Alpha of the Caleo stretched in the sun. Her hindquarters in the air and a pleased expression on her face. The pack was taken care of. Pups seen to and the boarders secure. Soon very soon she would call for rank changes. Wolves were proving themselves every day to be a more valuable members to the pack. They would need new warriors and hunters soon as others had been growing older. In fact there were plenty of new recruits that were proving themselves every day. The pack was growing stronger and stronger. The she wolf was very pleased. There were some that had the battle scars to prove it. It was something she would have to see to. Ashliya knew when her pack needed morality boosts and rank changes were always the best time of the season. While things were fine now, eventually any weaknesses in the ranks would be spotted by neighboring packs. Ashliya could not have that.
While the day was feeling normal and routine she decided to go and watch her lower ranked members. Some were proving themselves to be very useful. The white and red-orange she wolf padded into the forest. Her crystalline eyes open and watching for member's movements. Two wolves spotted her and bowed their heads with respect, while she nodded faintly in acknowledgement. Her face showing no emotion as the two sparred. One was very nimble on his paws and watched for shoulder twitches to guage when his oppenent would attack. He would make a very good Warrior. While the other danced and weaved keeping his guard strong. The makings of a good Hunter. Still she watched as the one weaving away tripped and the other fell on top of him. Ashliya laughed into a paw, "you two need more training, do that in the battlefield and you shall fall. Keep your body curved and always moving like a snake, one eye on your foe and the other on the ground around you. Trees have sneaky roots as you see. Try to keep your foe towards the trees and you will trip them instead."
She demonstrated the moves carefully and succeeded in knocking the Future Warrior on his tail. They both bowed their heads sheepishly and mumbled their thanks. While the Alpha turned away from them to disappear into the bushes, listening as they went back to work hard on their skills. The she wolf on the inside beamed with pride. Her pack was a hard working bunch of wolves, she appreciated their effort. Yes new ranks would be issued as soon as she was sure all the members were ready. Her pawsteps lead her onward there she watched as a young wolf blended into the shadows. Ashliya turned her head to the side. So what was this about?
She sat down at a distance where the wind was in her favor and watched. The thin she wolf sprang from her hiding place the moment a rabbit leaped out. Clever idea. She could use a Warrior with that skill or maybe a Hunter? She'd have to keep her eyes out and see. Able to hide in the shadows was a wonderful trick. Silently though she stalked back into the bushes. There were other tasks to handle today and she would have to see to them. Yes, today was turning out to be a fine one indeed.
